Cole Wakefield is a 2018 1B/OF with a 6-2 195 lb. frame from Katy, TX who attends Taylor. Large frame with athletic, highly projectable frame with present strength. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.59 seconds. Sets up to hit slightly hunched over with wide-based, open stance. Hands set high in addition to back elbow, toe tap trigger. Line drive swing plane with some loft up to ball, high finish as a result, shows ability to work to all fields at times as well. Worked out defensively in a pair of spots. Shows good footwork around the bag at 1st base, spins well to make throw to 2B, funnels well and shows clean hands at the ball. Moves well to the ball in the outfield and shows feel for maintaining momentum through fielding, good accuracy on throws clocked up to 76 MPH. Very good student.
