Alex Gauld is a 2020 SS/2B, 3B with a 5-10 163 lb. frame from Birmingham, AL who attends Mountain Brook. Medium frame with athleticism at present. Recorded a 6.93 second 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, worked out in the infield with confident actions, strong glove and able to work to both sides, good range to the middle, longer arm action with high effort, gets body going to the bag and able to drop arm slot on the move. Also pitched at this event, easy effort delivery, deliberate tempo, leg lift to waist with a slight hip turn, maintains direction to the plate, small arm circle in the back to a three-quarters arm slot, quick arm, fastball showed some sink to the arm side, flashed feel for a tight 11-to-5 curveball, stayed in and around the zone. Right-handed hitter, starts upright, quick hands, stays inside the ball on a line drive swing path, pulls off it at times, developing feel for the barrel, sprays the middle of the field with line drives.
