Porter Slate is a 2018 2B/SS with a 5-10 140 lb. frame from Petaluma, CA who attends Petaluma HS. Slate has a medium sized frame with a lean lanky build. Defensively he throws with a long arm action with developing arm strength up to 70 MPH. Slate showed some athleticism on the charging slow roller with a clean release. He showed solid actions with solid footwork to the baseball. At the plate Slate starts with an open stance and gets closed on stride. He has a narrow base and has a high back elbow at load. He shifts into his swing and has a smooth swing with some rhythm. He showed some hard contact to the pull side with developing strength in his swing. Slate has a line drive path and showed some hitting tools that will improve with strength gains. Very good student.
