Sergio Ortiz is a 2021 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-10 165 lb. frame from Yabucoa, PR who attends Petra Mercado Bougart. Medium build with plenty of room to add strength. Right handed hitter, hits from a low hand start and has nice hand quickness, gets the barrel into the zone quickly and hits the ball out front, gets some jump to the pull side, line drive swing plane. 6.75 runner, moves well laterally on defense in the middle infield and shows quick twitch actions, confident actions through the ball, good arm strength across the diamond. Showed his arm strength well on the mound, too, topped out at 87 mph from a high 3/4's arm slot, more velocity there with refined lower half mechanics, had an effective outing challenging hitters. Quality quick twitch athlete with middle of the field tools. Very good student, verbal commitment to Indiana State. Named to the Sunshine East Top Prospect List.
