Erick Mauricio Tellez Gomez is a 2017 LHP with a 5-8 149 lb. frame from Mexico City. Medium frame with slender, athletic present build and good room remaining on body to add strength. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.18 seconds. Employs short, compact delivery on the mound with solid athleticism throughout mechanics. Delivery is smooth throughout without unnecessary effort. Arm is loose and works well. Lands a bit closed on front foot, creating slight crossfire in delivery. Controls body well through delivery and maintains balance. Throws from high three quarters slot and generates some plane to the plate, fastball worked 71-75 MPH and peaked at 76, pitch shows occasional life through the zone but is commanded well. Curveball shows 2/8 shape with some sweeping, deep action; slider has similar shape but is harder with more consistent bite. Did a very good job commanding the strike zone and throwing strikes with all pitches. Good student.
