Jake Burkhardt is a 2020 OF/RHP with a 5-10 167 lb. frame from Chandler, AZ who attends Corona Del Sol HS. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Quick-twitch muscle and runs well, posted a 6.76 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, takes short and quick steps moving towards the ball, fields out front and works into a compact arm action, extended three-quarters release, overall actions will continue to develop with footwork. Also pitched, leg raise delivery with similar compact arm action, does a nice job of hiding the ball through the backside. Fastball topped out at 79 mph, throws strikes and spins a nice curveball with 11-5 shape at 67 mph, can mix more frequently. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide, slightly open stance with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing in the box. Short arm bar at load, does a nice job of staying short to the ball and direct to it, upper body dominant swing. Creates back spin coming off the barrel and works the pull side part of the field with comfort, incorporates physical strength well into swing. Good student.
