William Renteria is a 2018 RHP/3B with a 6-0 155 lb. frame from Rancho Cucamonga , CA who attends Etiwanda HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Frame projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.74 sixty yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step delivery to medium leg lift. Utilizes lower half well while driving downhill to the plate. Stays in line with the plate while carrying momentum through extension. Creates a compact arm circle back at separation and releases from a three-quarters slot. Fastball produces solid downward action to the plate with occasional running actions, topped at 79 mph. Cureball has 11/5 shape with good spin and solid depth down in the zone. Primarily used curveball offering as a strike out pitch. Flashed a straight changeup ion the upper 60's, maintained arm speed well that matching fastball offering. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing good actions while surrounding the baseball. Funnels from a slightly high position and works through transition with clean exchanges. Topped at 82 mph across the infield generating good carry with developing accuracy to the bag. Right handed hitter with a square, balanced stance. Hands launch on a loose, inside path to contact with an uphill plane through extension. Showed a mid-field approach with occasional bat speed and strength when on time and squared. Flashed some jump off the barrel to the gaps when matching plane. Higher ceiling as a pitching prospect at this time. Good student as well.
