Edgar Beltran is a 2016 C/RHP/1B with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Puyallup, WA who attends Gov John Rogers HS. Large frame with good strength and build throughout body. Hits from crouched stance with narrow base, lifts hands into load but gets them into good position and fires them well into swing. Gets lower half through well, strong forearms, line drive swing plane with strength off the barrel and ability to drive the ball into gaps. Worked out defensively at catcher. Great size for position. Stands up instead of exploding out of crouch, quick release with some arm strength, receives ball well, topped at 71 MPH from behind the plate and popped as low as 2.24 seconds. Pitched as well, shorter arm action quickly up to high 3/4 slot, slight plane to plate, arm works well, threw fastballs only and worked quickly. Pounded the zone with the FB at 74-77, showed slight life to the arm side.
