Riley Wright is a 2017 SS/2B/RHP with a 5-11 142 lb. frame from Yelm, WA who attends Tenino HS. Medium frame with a slender build. Right handed hitter showing a spread, straight stance with a higher back elbow set and leg lift trigger. Mid-field, pullside approach with a slightly uphill swing path and tends to throw the bat head out in front. Aggresive hitter early in counts and looks to drive fastball on the inner 2/3 of plate. Defensively worked out from the infield showing a low 3/4 arm slot that produced accurate throws with slight tailing action, topped at 71 mph across the infield. On the mound shows a high hand set at balance and a jerky delivery. Rotational pitching mechanics with shorter compact arm actions. Creates some downhill angle with fastball ranging from 69-70 mph, topped at 71 mph. Curveball has softer spin with some depth topping at 61 mph. Primarily pitches to contact and can mix and match both pitches. Good student as well.
