Alec Hopkins is a 2018 2B/SS/RHP with a 5-10 145 lb. frame from Canby, OR who attends Canby HS. Young, athletic frame with slender build and good room to fill out. Hits with line drive swing plane from squared stance, high hand set with high back elbow. Some lift in swing, will drop back shoulder in attempt to elevate the ball. Balanced throughout swing, has solid present contact skills. Waits back on the ball when fielding it, fields a bit flat-footed, short choppy steps to ball with some range to both sides. Fields cleanly with solid hand actions, threw accurately across the infield up to 62 MPH. Pitched as well, slow-paced and deliberate delivery to slight crossfire, lower three quarters slot with extended release. FB worked 64-66 with slight arm side life. Showed CB with 10/4 slurvy shape and solid depth. Did good job throwing strikes. Good student.
