Brandon Leal is a 2017 SS/RHP with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Gooding, ID who attends Jerome HS. Tall frame, lean build with wiry strength. Right handed hitter with a slightly open stance and leg kick trigger. Shows an uphill swing path that produces some leverage. Good quick twitch actions with hands with the ability to control barrel. Produced consistent line drive contact gap to gap in BP. Barrel control and hand skills allow for contact to all fields. Tends to shift weight out front early at times. Also pitched showing a high energy delivery with some deceptive jerk on release. Compact arm action form a high 3/4 slot that creates some downhill plane on fastball. Throws fastball early and often ranging from 70-72 mph, topped at 73 mph. Curveball hand 11/5 shape with softer spin and some depth. Around the zone with both pitches, primarily pitching to contact. Shows the ability to keep hitter off balance when mixing both pitches consitently. Worked out defensively from the infield. Shows good range to glove side with athletic actions. Made an in game diving play. Funnels ball well and shows a smooth glove to hand transfer. Compact arm action with a 3/4 slot across the infield, topped at 74 mph. Good student as well.
