James Grantland is a 2019 OF/LHP with a 6-2 195 lb. frame from Port Lavaca, TX who attends Calhoun HS. Large frame with a strong and athletic build with broad shoulders. Ran a 6.96 second 60-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary outfielder. Works through the ball well with some clean footwork. Showing good arm strength with carry to the bag. Throws topping out at 87 miles per hour. Lefthanded hitter with a narrow and even stance. Utilizes a medium leg lift trigger for timing. Hands stay tight with some quickness to the ball. Line drive bat path to the ball and looks to pull the ball with hard contact. Lefthanded pitcher with a big side step delivery. High leg raise above the belt and landing in line to the plate with a long stride down the mound. Fast and clean arm action and releasing from a three-quarters slot. Keeps the ball low with late life on the fastball. Sat in the mid 80's and topped out at 85 miles per hour. Short slider with some tightness in the lower velocities. Excellent student as well. Named to the 2018 Sunshine South Showcase Top Prospect List.
