2018 Pitcher/Catcher Showcase
Jack Clawson is a 2019 RHP/1B with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Eden Prairie, MN who attends Eden Prairie HS. Thick muscular build with broad shoulders. Primary right handed pitcher. Side step delivery with a high leg kick, landing in line with the plate. Has some slight drop and drive actions to delivery. Releases from a high 3/4 arm slot with good extension out front. Showed some occasional run to the fastball in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 79 miles per hour. Commanded the fastball well especially to the glove side. Threw an 11/5 curveball with depth at 64 miles per hour. Slowed the body down slightly when throwing offspeed pitches. Hit from the right side with an upright and even stance. High back elbow set with a simple leg lift trigger. Linear shifts into contact with a short, compact path to the baseball. Line drive path getting some good lift when meeting the ball out front. Present strength with the ability to drive the ball to the middle of the field with good pop.
