Ryan Pho is a 2017 SS/2B/OF with a 5-9 155 lb. frame from Ladera Ranch, CA who attends San Juan Hills HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional strength. Right handed hitter with a straight stance, leg kick trigger and high back elbow set. Hands load to a strong position with a tall barrel angle. Lower half launches with linear actions and shift to contact. Hands launch on a compact path with natural lift through extension. Shows a gap to gap approach and swings with intent to drive the baseball through the gaps. Shows present bat speed and jump of barrel when front side trigger and hands are on time. Worked out defensively from the infield and outfield. From the infield shows smooth glove skills while funneling the baseball outfront. Smooth, athletic actions while working through transition with clean glove to hand exchanges. Releases from a high three-quarters arm slot that produces some on line carry with accruacy. From the outfield shows athletic footwork whle closing on the baseball and working through transition. Compact arm action through extension while throwing to the bag, topped at 72 mph. Projects better as an infield prospect at this time. Very good student as well.
