Austin Carroll is a 2016 RHP/OF with a 5-10 157 lb. frame from Chester, VA who attends Matoaca. Medium, athletic frame with lean build throughout and good room to continue filling out. Primary pitcher, pitches with long and extended arm action up to 3/4 slot, hip coils into delivery then explodes through downhill, uses lower half well, FB worked 77-80 with good natural heaviness. SL shows good vertical movement with tight spin; excellent feel for the CH with fading, tumbling action and quality deception. Hits with toe tap trigger, pronates front foot in load, exaggerated inside-out swing approach, keeps hands far inside of ball, LD swing plane with good overall contact skills. Worked out defensively in the OF. Waits back on the ball and fields cleanly, solid fundamental gather and release, solid arm strength with OF velocity up to 78 MPH. Very good student.
