Corey Avant is a 2020 OF/RHP with a 6-4 190 lb. frame from Monroe, NC who attends Sun Valley HS. Tall and angular athletic build, very projectable physically. Right handed hitter, hits from an upright open stance, power approach with along and extended swing, has some present bat speed and more to come, swings hard and has plenty of leverage at contact, big power potential if he can continue to get stronger. 7.15 runner, has athletic actions in the outfield and moves well through the ball, quick release, makes accurate throws. Also pitched, throws from an over the top extended arm slot, gets over his front side well and works very downhill, good lower half use in his delivery. Fastball topped out at 86 mph with occasional late running action. Showed good feel for a short curveball and was able to throw it for strikes, developing change up. Quality athlete who should keep improving. Outstanding student. Named to the National Underclass Main Event Top Prospect List.
