Preston Kelly is a 2019 RHP/OF with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from Eastvale, CA who attends Chino Hills HS. Medium frame with an athletic build. Projects for additional strength. Right handed pitcher with a simple, full delivery. Produces good arm speed from and overtop arm slot. Slight cross body arm action at times with a recoiled finish. Fastball has some life to arm side in the low to mid 70's, topped at 75 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape with good break and sink in the bottom of the zone. Pounds the zone well with fastball early. Mixes pithces well, effectively setting up curveball offering later in counts. Poised presence while on the mound with a solid knowledge of pitching. Right handed hitter with a straight stance and high back elbow set. Hands load to a compact position close to body. Lower half creates some shift into contact with rotational actions. Direct inside swing path with a line drive swing plane. Primarily uses a mid-field approach, but flashes to barrel skills to hit to all fields. Worked out defensively from the outfield showing athletic actions while closing on baseball. Developing glove skills while working through transition with clean glove to hand exchanges. Long arm circle back at separation, loose arm action through extension. Throws created some carry to the bag with accuracy, topped at 78 mph. Very good student as well.
