Jacob Griffin is a 2019 OF/RHP/1B with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Cave Creek, AZ who attends Chaparral High School. Medium build and frame, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a 7.20 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary outfielder, fields out front, short arm action through back, upright through release, and showed sound accuracy. Also worked out at first base, used a fuller arm action, got on top of throws well, and was balanced while charging. At the plate, started balanced and used an inside out approach at the plate. Worked the opposite field well with raw bat speed and a line drive swing plane. Strength plays through the ball when timed. Improving timing of barrel release will lead to more consistent contact. Also pitched, threw from a three quarter arm slot and used a fastball that worked 68-71 mph with short sink. Mixed in a curveball with 11/5 shape and raw ability to spin at 64 mph. Will continue to improve on the mound with additional lower half drive to the plate. Good student.
