2017 Pitcher/Catcher Showcase
Casey Barr is a 2017 RHP/IF with a 6-3 180 lb. frame from Chicago, IL who attends Francis W. Parker. Large frame with a long, lean athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Primary right handed pitcher with big rock step to leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Medium arm circle back at separation and releases from a three-quarters arm slot with good arm speed through extension. Fastball has good running action to arm side with heavy, late life in the mid 80's, topped at 86 miles per hour. Cruveball showed slurve shape with tight rotatoin and solid depth. Showed good feel for curveball offering with the ability to throw in positive and negative counts. Also flashed a changeup that showed some fading action with sink at 80 miles per hour. Consistently filled the zone and aggressively attacked hitter with all three pitches. Shows a relaxed and composed presence while on the mound. Excellent student as well.
