Xavier Cruz is a 2016 C/1B with a 5-10 176 lb. frame from Acworth, GA who attends Allatoona. Compact frame, strong, sturdy build. Primary catcher, looks the part behind the plate. Quick actions behind the plate, solid footwork. Gains ground on throws, quick hands on exchange but can rush a bit too often, when in rhythm he is very smooth, popped as low as 1.87 seconds in defensive drills. Switch-hitter, high hands set with a deeper load. Shifts into contact very well and uses his strong body to generate bat speed from both sides. Flashes better present bat speed and a bit more fluidity from the right side, can impact the baseball and drive to the gaps. Solid overall skillset. Excellent student.
