Gabriel Garcia is a 2018 C/3B with a 6-2 205 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Miami Killian Senior. Large, long frame with broad shoulders and present strength. Ran a 7.22 sixty-yard dash. Primary catcher with a taller lower half while setting up to receive the baseball. Gains ground to the bag while working out of crouch with fundamental footwork. Extended, smooth paced glove to hand exchanges while working through transfer. Released from a compact three-quarters arm slot that created accurate carry to the bag, best workout pop time of 1.94. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing compact footwork while surrounding and working through the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling out front and working through transfer. Released from a high three-quarters arm slot producing downhill angle across the infield topping at 80 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance. Compact, inside hand path that created a level line drive plane through extension. Shows plenty of present bat speed and strength with a mid-field to opposite field approach. Baseball jumped off the barrel very well with hard contact to the opposite field gap. Outstanding student. Named to the 2017 National Underclass East Top Prospect List.
