Jonathan Cox is a 2008 SS/P/2B from Magna Vista High School in Martinsville, Virginia, with a lean 5'9'', 140 lb. frame. Defensively he has nice actions in the middle of the diamond showing good hands. Cox gets in position well, and makes all of the plays. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with a no stride approach, and he stays back well. Cox makes consistent contact with good bat head skills. He keeps his hands back and has the ability to take the outside pitch to the opposite field. Cox stays inside the ball with a line drive swing plane. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot, and goes right at the hitters with his 77 mph fastball. He gets running action in on the hands of right handed hitters causing inconsistent contact and ground balls. He throws strikes and gets ahead in the count. Cox is also a good student.
