Matthew Ryan is a 2017 RHP/3B, IF with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from Skillman, NJ who attends Montgomery. Large, athletic build with lean and long limbs and projects well with room to fill out with added strength. Ran a 7.24 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, creates deception at top of delivery with slight pause and does a nice job of staying balanced throughout. Over the top arm slot with a full arm circle through the back, consistently gets on top of the ball and generates downhill plane on fastball, topping out at 83 mph. Strong feel for curveball, shows 12-6 shape with depth and has the ability to locate in the zone. Flashed a changeup at 74 mph. Fields the ball out front well in the infield, shows strength and gets on top of throws, very good accuracy, reacts well off the bat and shows good range. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and uses a small toe tap trigger. Some uphill to swing path, creates nice bat speed with strength to pull side, has contact skills, longer finish to swing, showed best strength to pull side. Good student.
