Dakota Champagne is a 2018 OF/RHP, C with a 5-10 148 lb. frame from Lubbock, TX who attends Friendship HS. Lean frame with room to fill ,brought energy and presence on the field. On the mound he showed a compact arm action and arm speed, high 3/4 slot, created some downhill plane, delivery was online. Working exclusively with his fastball that ranged from 80 to 82 miles per hour he was able to generate weak contact by utilizing all aspect of the strike zone. Worked out from the outfield and showed solid footwork, fielded with momentum to the bag, threw with accuracy and arm strength to the bag. At the plate he stands with a wide base and high hands. Has simple mechanics to begin the swing; short gather to rear leg, creates separation with stride forward, hands stay back by rear leg, path works up to the ball, on plane and showed bat speed. Great student.
