Elliot Rodriguez is a 2018 SS/2B, OF with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Plantation, FL who attends Cypress Bay. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Primary shortstop, travels low to the baseball with athletic footwork. Rounds the baseball well and creates solid momentum towards the bat. Clean glove actions while funneling and moves well to each side. Released from a low three-quarters arm slot producing accurate, on line carry across the infield topping at 82 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Lower half works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Direct, compact hand path to contact with a lifted plane through extension. Swung with intent to drive the baseball with authority showing present bat speed. Primarily utilized the middle of the field, but flashed the ability to turn barrel and created hard, loud contact to the pull gap as well. Named to the 2017 National Academic Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student.
