Carson Draehn is a 2020 C/RHP/3B with a 5-8 140 lb. frame from Brenham, TX who attends Brenham High School. Incredibly young player with a lean, slender build, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a 7.63 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary catcher, side saddle start, received with two hands, tight, compact am actions, ability to repeat actions, with developing arm strength. Posted a workout pop time of 2.12. At the plate, started with an open stance, lower hand set, deeper coil, and a leg lift timing mechanism. Swing works primarily through hands with a line drive swing plane. Made consistent contact with a short path to the ball and intent to drive the ball. Limited weight shift at present with an up the middle approach that will continue to improve with additional strength and lower half incorporation. Also pitched, started with a larger leg lift, full hand raise over head, side step start, threw from the middle of the rubber, longer arm action, and threw from an extended three quarter arm slot. Repeated arm action very well for age. Landed online towards plate with good tempo. Worked backwards off curveball that showed 10/4 shape and worked over for strikes with good present feel for the pitch. Fastball showed slight cutting action at 74-77 mph and worked well in on the hands of hitters. Impressive athlete on the mound with good projection with age. Exceptional student.
