Jonathan Smith is a 2023 SS/RHP with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Suwanee, GA who attends Lambert. Large frame with an athletic build. Broad shoulders proving to have mature physical strength. Ran a 6.97 second sixty yard dash. Primary Shortstop, good first step showing lateral range. Clean gather out front with feel for the glove. Quick transfer and release carrying weight to target. Accurate throws up to 88 mph. Instinctual in games and projects here long term. Secondary Right-Handed Pitcher, side-step to a compressed belt high lift. Strides out and does a good job getting extended down the hill. Three-quarter slot released generating easy velocity. Fastball up to 84 mph with arm side run. Spin rates up to 2026 rpm. Also mixed in a sharp breaking ball with more lateral movements in the low-70's. Spin rates up to 2121 rpm. Rounded third pitch off with a changeup showing tumble in the mid-70's. Right-Handed Hitter, balanced to start before working into a hanging leg lift to stride. Fires the hips and hands while working into a linear cut. Proved he could drive it with some thump into the gaps. Also handled the stick well games in the box. Good Student. Named to National Uncommitted Top Prospect List.
