Marco Villanueva is a 2022 MIF with a 5-2 125 lb. frame from Laredo, TX who attends John B Alexander HS. Small frame with more physical maturity to come, 8.26 runner in the 60, primary shortstop that plays low to the ground. Showed solid footwork and plays through the ball, transition to throw and arm strength will improve with added physical strength and development. Switch hitter, from the right side shows a line drive swing path that stays on plane through the zone and creates consistent solid contact from a wider base with a high back elbow set up. Left side set up is upright, narrow and open, more pull oriented approach with slight lift in the swing path, looks to pull and get extended early, creates some leverage out in front. Good student.
