Dylan Russell is a 2017 C with a 5-8 175 lb. frame from Collinsville, OK who attends Collinsville High School. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 7.05 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, sound actions behind the plate and repeats them well, gains ground with lower half quick hands and transfer into a tight release, gets on top of throws well and shows carry down to second base, ball comes out of hand cleanly and shows accuracy down to the bag. Righthanded hitter, begins with a an upright and closed stance with a high back elbow in the box. Simple leg lift trigger for timing and twist into contact, line drive swing plane, uses hands well well and shows a short and quick swing throughout the zone. Contact approach, occasionally gets to front side early but still shows ability to work the middle and pull side parts of the field. Excellent student.
