James VanHooser is a 2020 C/SS, 2B with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Oak Hills, CA who attends Oak Hills. Medium, square shouldered frame with present strength on build and additional room to grow and fill throughout. Ran an 8.06 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, begins with a lower set behind the plate, receives the ball out front and gains some ground with lower half, length to transfer but quickness to it, works into a tight release from ear, shorter arm action, accuracy on throws. Righthanded hitter, begins with a spread and slightly open stance with a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Barrel tilt at start of swing, long path through the zone with extension out front. Occasionally gets downward with plane, shows comfort working to his pull side with contact, gets onto front side at times, shows some strength at point of contact. Very good student.
