Austin Zabala is a 2024 OF/RHP with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Ellijay, GA who attends Gilmer. Strong athletic build. 6.95 runner in the sixty. Right handed hitter, hits from a wide base with a toe tap trigger, tends to get stuck on his back side, works middle away with an inside swing path, flashes bat speed when he turns the barrel, has the strength to open up his swing in the future. Primary outfielder on defense, works through the ball well, makes accurate on-line throws with some carry, repeats his footwork well. Also pitched and was solid on the mound. Throws from an over the top arm slot with with a short and compact arm action, works North to South with a riding fastball that topped out at 83 mph, a 12/6 curveball with some depth and a split finger change up with some tumble. Had an idea on the mound and his off-speed worked well. Good student.
