Steven Kotkosky is a 2017 OF with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Huntington Beach, CA who attends Mater Dei HS. Medium, athletic frame with a lean, projectable build and room to fill out with additional strength. Solid runner, posted a 6.75 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, takes short and quick steps to the ball, fields the ball out front, short arm action with effort at release, athleticism in actions, accuracy to throws, projects with continued incorporation of lower half into release. Right-handed hitter, starts with a medium hand set and a wide stance in lower half. Small leg lift trigger for timing, uses hands in swing well and remains balanced through lower half weight shift. Loads hands at start of swing, shows bat speed coming through the zone with nice contact coming off the barrel. Employs a contact approach and gets barrel to ball, shows ability to works all fields, comfort middle to pull side. Very good student.
