Ben Gerads is a 2018 RHP with a 6-1 150 lb. frame from Yorba Linda, CA who attends El Dorado HS. Large frame with a lean, athletic build and wiry strength. Frame projects to support additional strength. Ran a 7.66 sixty yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step delivery. Creates coil at balanced showing pocket, coil build and produces good torque. Extended stride length while driving downhill with lower half. Extended arm swing back at separation and releases from a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball has occasional downward plane at the bottom of the zone ranging in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 82 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape with some spin and late depth in the upper 60's. Flashed good feel for a changeup that had solid sinking action in the mid 70's. Consistently filled the strike zone with good command to the glove side edge of the plate. Frame and arm action project for continued velocity with continued physical development. Good student as well.
