Ethan Weinandy is a 2016 C/RHP, OF with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Lake In The Hills, IL who attends Crystal Lake South. Medium frame with broad shoulder and present strength throughout. Projects for added strength. Right handed hitter with a slightly closed stance. Swing hard with a level extended hand path to contact. Mid-field, pull side approach and produced consistent line drive contact. Flashed some pull side pop to the pull side gap. Shows good barrel control with the ability to drive the ball to oppositie field when weight is behind contact. Will shift weight out front at times. Projectable swing for the next level. Gap power should continue to develop with future strength. Worked defensively from behind the plate and in the outfield. From behind the plate shows a low, balanced set with smooth receiving acitons. Shows quick exchanges while creating some direciton with quick, fundamental footwork. Solid arm actions with on line carry topping at 77 mph, best pop 1.94. From the outfield shows similar arm actions and arm whip with on line carry and accuracy, topped at 88 mph from the OF. Athletic actions with a smooth, quick transition and creates good direction to the bag. Also pitched working from the stretch. Has a quick, compact arm action from a high 3/4 arm slot. Generates downhill plane with fastball that has cutting action. Fastball ranged from 80-82 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape with good depth and snap, topped at 69 mph. Consistently pounds the strike zone with both pitches and misses down in the zone when off target. Very athletic player with projectable tools at multiple positions. Good follow. Good student as well.
