2016 Pitcher Catcher Showcase
Kane Thornton is a 2017 C with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Conway, AR who attends Greenbrier HS. Medium frame with an athletic build. Some present strength with broad shoulders. At the plate shows a slightly open stance with a crouched lower half and higher hand set. Good weight transfer back on load with quiet hands. Bat angle tends to stay tall at load and is late back to the slot at times. Solid fast twitch actions with a compact, line drive swing plane with bat speed when bat is in the slot on time. Showed consistent barrel contact in BP and live sessoin. Sinks hips well behind the plate and gives a low targer to pitchers. Soft, strong hands while receiving with plus body control while blocking. Very quiet behind the plate and stay behind the baseball well on both sides of the plate. Short arm circle and exchange on throws to second with solid downhill actions. Quick, smooth footwork that produced solid momentum and on line throws. Solid skill set behind the plate and swing should conintue to develop.
