Javier Martinez is a 2019 3B/RHP, 1B with a 6-0 225 lb. frame from Fuquay Varina, NC who attends Cresset Christian Academy. Extra large frame with present strength throughout. Ran a 7.26 second 60-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary third baseman. Fields the ball out front and into a funnel. Has quickness with transfers and into releases. Has the arm strength to stick at third base. Just needs to improve accuracy to the bag topping out at 87 miles per hour. Righthanded hitter with an even stance and leg lift trigger for timing. Quick and direct hand path producing smooth barrel speed through the zone. Swings hard on a naturally lifted plane. Creates torque in the lower half. High amount of jump off the barrel when squared up. Secondary righthanded pitcher with a side step into short leg lift delivery. Quick pace down the mound landing slightly closed. Quick and loose arm action in back into a three-quarter slot. Fills the zone well with a fastball up to 86 miles per hour. Lands an 11-to-5 curveball for strikes with sharp depth. Verbal commitment to Catawba Valley CC. Named to the 2019 Spring Top Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List.
