2020 Mid-Atlantic Prospect Showcase
Jake Whitlinger is a 2021 SS/UT with a 5-8 175 lb. frame from Harleysville, PA who attends La Salle College. Recorded a 6.86 second sixty-yard dash time. Medium frame with present strength and quick twitch athleticism. Primary middle-infielder with smooth, fluid actions into and through the fielding process. Advanced fielding approach with first step quickness, plus lateral range and a clean funnel out in front. Well-engaged lower half movements with well maintained momentum through the fielding of the baseball with above average arm strength recorded up to 89 mph across the diamond. Right-handed hitter with a slightly open stance, mid-height hand set and leg lift trigger. Middle-of-the field approach with ability to make adjustments and use the whole field when needed. Fairly simple swing path with slight upward barrel plane, consistent bat-to-ball skills and advanced feel for the barrel. High contact rate with plus pitch recognition and occasional gap-to-gap power. Excellent Student. Verbally committed to Lehigh University.
