2006 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Tyler Wood is a 2007 RHP/OF from Middle Creek HS in Raleigh, NC with a 6'1", 205 lb. frame. Tyler has a well developed athletic build with a strong lower half and has the ideal body for a power pitcher. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a long arm circle. Tyler topped out at 85, but he has thrown in the high 80's at previous events this summer. His arm action can be a little stiff at times which takes away from his velocity. Tyler shows a solid CH with good life, but his curveball can get a little flat at times. At the plate Tyler has good raw power potential, but gets jammed too often. He ran a 7.42 and is a solid all-around athlete. Tyler is somewhat raw at this point, but he is a strong student and has the tools to be a mid to high-level Division I prospect.
