AJ Speer is a 2018 OF/SS, RHP with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Pleasant Hill, CA who attends College Park HS. Medium, athletic frame with long limbs and a lean, projectable build with room to fill out. Ran a 7.20 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, moves well to the ball with quick feet and twitch to actions, full and quick arm action, comes out of hand well, works on top of ball with loose arm action and accuracy. Very similar arm action in infield, quick release across, works behind the ball and through it, hands play well at the ball. Also pitched, high leg kick with an online delivery with good direction to plate. Short and quick arm action, tight release with a high three-quarter arm slot. Repeats delivery, gets on top of fastball, good life at 81 mph, lower slot on curveball and gets sweeping life at 70 mph. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and a high hand set. Balanced set up, some effort to swing, short bat path with line drive swing plane. Quick hands and able to generate bat speed through zone with them, comes off well to center field when squared off barrel. Very good student.
