Jaylin Turner is a 2017 LHP/OF/1B with a 6-3 210 lb. frame from Oxford, GA who attends Rockdale County HS. Extra-large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength proportioned throughout. Ran a 7.63 60-yard dash. Primary lefthanded pitcher, works out of the stretch, long stride coming down the mound and lands open with strike foot. Shows looseness to arm action while working to an over-the-top release point, arm occasionally late coming through the backside. Fastball topped out at 82 mph, able to create cut when working the glove side, life is effective against hitters. Downer shape to curveball at 68 mph, shows potential with the pitch when arm gets out front. Aggressive to the ball in the outfield with short and quick steps, fields the ball out front, works over front side and works to a higher release point. Similar actions and arm slot at first base, moves well coming off the bag with footwork and balance. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a still hand set away from body and a high back elbow in the box. Loads hands at start of swing, starts open and gets closed with toe tap trigger. Sound approach at the plate, stays short to the ball and incorporates physical strength well, looks to create lift and can do so to pull side. Worked the pull side gap when extended out front, gets the barrel through the zone. Very good student. Committed to Jefferson Davis CC.
