Tyler Townsend is a 2018 LHP/1B with a 5-10 195 lb. frame from Lake Worth, FL who attends Park Vista Community. Medium frame with good physicality, strong throughout body. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.85 seconds. Primary lefthanded pitcher, early hand separation at top of leg kick, good balance over rubber, stays compact through delivery and repeats it well, low-effort release with some projection remaining. Quick arm stroke, fastball worked 77-81 mph with slight arm side life when down in zone. Showed sharp curveball in low-70's, late break to the pitch, did a very good job throwing both fastball and curveball for strikes whenever he wanted. Sets up to hit from slightly open stance with toe tap trigger, hands close to body throughout swing, consistently got the barrel out and did a good job making square contact. Repeated his swing well. Worked out at 1st base, good first step with good footwork and clean hands, smooth arm stroke with quick release, up to 72 mph on throws. Very good student.
