Trevor Sykes is a 2018 2B/OF, SS with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Point Loma. Compact frame with an athletic build. Shows wiry strength and projects for additional size with continued physical maturity. Ran a 7.92 sixty yard dash. Primary middle infielder, active footwork while surrounding the baseball with high energy actions. Bends at waist while funneling baseball out front with clean glove actions. Creates some momentum while working through transition to the bag. Throws across the infield from a three-quarters arm slot the produces some carry and accuracy to the bag. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing smooth, athletic actions while closing to the baseball. Clean, fundamental glove work while working throught transition. Gets rid of ball with quick glove to hand exchanges. Short arm cirlce back at separation and releases from a three-quarters slot. Baseball comes out of hand cleanly producing some carry to the bag with accuracy, topped at 72 mph. Right handed hitter with a narrow stance and toe tap trigger. Lower half launches with linear actions creating shift into contact. Compact bat path to contact with a line drive plane. Swings with intent to drive the ball to the middle of the field. Consitently squared contact creating line drives to each gap. Will produce more carry and jump to the outfield gaps with continued physical maturity. Excellent student.
