Edwin Smith is a 2018 OF/1B/LHP with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Kosciusko, MS who attends Jackson Academy. Medium, athletic frame with present strength throughout and room to fill out with additional strength. Ran a 6.99 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, moves well on feet to the ball, short arm action through the back on throws, accurate throws, arm strength will continue to develop. Also pitched, short arm action and works to a side arm release point. Compact delivery, low effort at release with upright finish, topped out at 68 mph and creates cut action from release. Slider shows sweeping life from similar tight release point. Switch hitter, begins with a slightly open base and crouched stance from the left side, short swing path with quick hands and ability to hit to all fields. Straight stance and upper body swing from the right side, shows fluidity to stroke and able to create line drive contact, stays short and compact to the ball. Good student.
