William D. (Willie) Escala is a 2017 SS/OF/2B with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends South Dade HS. Escala has a medium sized frame with a lean athletic build. Defensively he has athletic actions on the infield with balance. Escala has good hands and clean transfers with smoothness and fluidity. He has a clean release with good arm strength up to 85 MPH. Escala also worked out from the outfield and he showed athletic actions with good footwork. He's a versatile defensive player with the athleticism to play multiple positions well. At the plate, Escala starts with a narrow stance with a high hand set. He uses a leg lift to start his swing and looked to pull the ball in BP. He showed developing barrel feel and showed some bat speed. Escala is an athletic player with upside. Good student, named to Top Prospect Team.
