Ty Corcoran is a 2020 C/2B/1B with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Chandler, AZ who attends Hamilton HS. Large, broad shouldered build with present strength to athletic frame and incorporates it well into his game. Primary catcher, sets up in a low crouch behind the plate, receives the ball out front and shows catch and throw skills with sound transfer, gains short ground with lower half and works through the ball, accurate throws down to second base, arm strength will continue to develop on throws. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate, open stance and does a nice job of getting closed with a leg lift trigger. Shows a linear swing path through the zone and does a nice job of staying short to the ball. Looks to lift the ball at point of contact, gets the barrel to the ball and shows ability to generate carry and back spin off the barrel to the middle and pull side parts of the field when on time and squared. Good student.
