Defensively he throws with a long arm action from a lower arm slot. Smelcer starts with a side saddle set up and showed some foot quickness on his pop throws. He showed developing actions on the infield with a long arm action. At the plate, Smelcer starts with a wide base and uses a rock back load to start his swing. He's short to the baseball and has a line drive approach. Smecler has a quiet approach and gets some extension. He took good game swings and kept his hands inside the ball well on an 88 MPH fastball.
