2015 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Andrew Patterson is a 2017 RHP/IF with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Keokuk, IA who attends Keokuk HS. Long and lean build, athletic with good physical projection remaining on body. Primary pitcher who also plays both infield and outfield. On the mound, throws from lower 3/4 slot, gets near sidearm at times, some drop and drive in mechanics as well. Worked 68-70 with his fastball, showing some tail to the arm side due to his arm slot. Uses legs well. Front hip opens very wide and very early, allowing him to land in athletic fielding position but potentially sacrificing command at the same time. Slider showed tilt and was effective when thrown down and away to right-handed hitters. At bat, uses balanced stance with a high back elbow set up and a middle-field approach. Linear swing plane with some stiffness throughout, majority of contact was up the middle/opposite field. Showed solid footwork around the bag during 1B workouts, longer arm action with some strength on throws. Very good student.
