2015 National Underclass West Showcase
Evan Kelly is a 2018 SS with a 5-11 150 lb. frame from Scottsdale, AZ who attends Desert Mountain HS. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill with additional strength. Ran a 7.31 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, has twitch to actions, moves well on feet and shows good lateral range up the middle, quick feet, extra steps to the ball, hands play well at the ball and work to a lower arm slot on throws across with extension at release. Righthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and a high back elbow. Opens front side moving into contact, stays inside the ball and shows bat speed coming through the zone. Looks to lift the ball out front, creates contact to opposite field, has moving parts to lower half in swing but able to get barrel to ball. Excellent student.
