LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2005 South Underclass Showcase
Adler is a 5-10, 160 lb switch hitting junior catcher from Texas with an athletic, live body for his position. He's a 7.41/4.41 runner who is light on his feet. Adler threw 69 mph during drills with a best pop time of 2.15 and was consistently around 2.20 between innings. We're told that Adler is coming off an arm injury from the Spring and he's still not 100%. Adler's best tool right now is his bat. He shows ability from both sides of the plate and had hard hits from both sides during the games. Adler's bat speed from the right side is better right now and he has a quick, fluid swing and projects some gap to gap power. From the left side he still has his hand quickness but lacks the extension and fluidness he has from the right side. Either way, he's a very promising young hitter who should continue to improve. .One thing Adler showed us that many coaches might appreciate is that he's not afraid of the baseball. He may have set a PG Showcase record for most times getting hit by pitches and he isn't inclined to back off the plate at all if the pitcher comes inside. Adler also pitched an inning out of the bullpen, showing much more arm strength than he did during catching drills. His fastball topped out at 80 mph and he threw a 71-74 mph slider that had nice sharpness and spin. It's a good sign for his arm strength coming back for catching. Good Follow whose evaluation will improve in step with his defensive improvement.
