Omar Cervantes is a 2018 3B/OF/RHP with a 6-0 225 lb. frame from Laredo, TX who attends Laredo United HS. Extra-large frame with present strength and physicality in build. Primary corner infielder, fields out in front of body, has a clean transfer and works to a lower 3/4's arm slot. Accurate throws across the diamond, is smooth and deceptively athletic with solid actions. Left handed hitter, wide base with high hand start. Strength plays in fluid swing,shows natural loft and has ability to get extended. Quality carry off of the barrel, shows big power potential. Also pitches, deliberate delivery with an extended arm-action a low-3/4's arm slot. Some deception and slight crossfire release but stays balanced. Fastball up to 82 mph, has some downhill plane and good angle with natural tailing action. Worked in slurvy breaking ball with varied tilt, shows makings of quality slider down the road. Straight changeup used rarely. Named to the National Underclass South Showcase Top Prospect List.
